Muppet Hair Wigs - Crochet - Beanie Hats

I wanted to make some crochet beanie style hats that had some pizazz, and these Muppet Hair Wigs are what I came up with. I love the functionality of these hats, and I also love the idea of putting one on and transforming into an alter ego. They are great for everyday winter hats or as the finishing touches to costumes.

I used a simple double crochet beanie pattern that I found on crochetpatterncentral.com for the under structure of the hat. I then attached long strands from a middle part and styled the hair however I wanted. Attaching the hair takes a good bit of time, but I think the end result is well worth the effort. I plan to make these in various colors, lengths, and hair styles.

These are available in my etsy store. :)

Why Craft?

Nothing in this experience of life is permanent. Everything we know is in a state of deterioration- from material things to our own bodies. The need to create is the human impulse to fight this ultimate deterioration. We create in as many ways as we destroy. We procreate, we write, we build, and we invent.

I am exploring many modes of creation, and at this moment in my experience of this life I feel the need to create beautiful things that can be enjoyed on a personal level. While I craft I infuse the items that I make with thought, hope, and love as I ponder purpose, existence, and relationships. I enjoy the act of creating, finishing, and then sharing them with others. Crafting is the way I am currently dealing with the unstoppable passage of time and the internal desire to create while struggling to understand and accept that these small creations, like myself, are not permanent.
